FEATURING ARTIST BIO

Raphy’L “The Producer” Polk 2015 Bio
Raphy’L has been building his knowledge and skill for music for 12 years. He was introduced to working in music in year 2000. His first task he took up was producing hip hop beats. Before he began working with music he began to listen to music. The artist he grew up with were Michael Jackson, Lil Jon, P.Diddy, Brandy, and Master P. These handful of artist inspired Raphy’L to take notice to the music industry. The creativity that was born in the 90’s set him on the path to pursue the arts of song and dance.

As he grew up he began to take part in the purchasing of music cds and tapes. He studied all of the cds and tapes he owned.  This filled his passion to create his own music.  One day in his house he was with his friend Stailey Styles and they decided to make their first song. They didn’t get to far but, they created their first hook. It went like this, “We ain’t no rough riders, we ain’t no outsiders. We can’t drink wine so we drink apple cider.” This hook and moment of creation was the seed to the long music career that Raphy’L would take.

Making beats and instrumentals wasn’t an easy task to begin. When Raphy’L first started to compose he used the style of experimentation to learn the music he wanted to create. After years of practicing and learning he finally started to make music that attracted other artist. Music Production was very hard for Raphy’L to learn so he began to spread out his control of music to Disc Jockeying. In 2002 Raphy’L bought his first set of turntables. He stocked his shelves with vinyls that were popular in the hip-hop crowd that was at his school. He partnered up with his best friend Woody Taylor which went by the name Dj Stunna. Together they began to Dj for all of the birthday parties in their local town, Lake Mary, Fl. The art of mixing music was really intriguing to Raphy’L. He was able to see the shift of energy between the crowds as the songs changed and he hyped up the party on the mic. His confidence of controlling music increased as he began to search more about producing songs.

In the year 2004 Raphy’L had enough musical skill to form a music group for his community. He called it IBX. IBX was created to be the Ill Beat Squad and the members of the group were Midwest Bawla, Kidizzle, Marlon Ponce, and Dj Night. In IBX, Raphy’L performed under the name Dj Night. Together the group performed many shows and made many songs. They performed hit songs for the communities in Florida. These songs were sold on cds called Ibx Mixtape 1.1, Ibx Mixtape 2.2. IBX Mixtape 1.1 featured hit songs FLA Boy and IBX News. Raphy’L also led the group to compete in the Rap Against Violence contest hosted by the State Attorney of Florida. IBX won many talent shows in their community taking 1st place.

Raphy’L stayed committed in the group IBX until he went to Tampa, Fl to grow his education of music. In Tampa he began to focus on his producing.  After traveling to Tampa to do music he learned about Full Sail University. He quickly changed direction from Tampa to Winter Park, Florida to further his education of music production.

Once arriving to Full Sail University he took up the degree of Music Production. He learned to mix, master, create, market, and stretch the art of music on a professional level within his industry. After his continuous education at Full Sail University for 3 years he finally received his Bachelors of Arts in Music Production. This degree has earned him the skill to perform music production task in studios all over the world.

Raphy’L has used all of his gained experience in the music industry to produce artist he finds when he travels. He created Live 2 Give Records in 2013. Raphy’L has celebrated his 2nd year anniversary with Live 2 Give Records in 2015.
